On September 26, the Senate passed, by voice vote, a bill (S. 2237) that includes a number of extensions of veterans’ benefits. Among the extensions was a provision that would extend a special monthly compensation to women who undergo mastectomies as a result of military service.
The provision is based on language from a more comprehensive women veterans’ health bill (S. 2205) sponsored by Sen. John Rockefeller (D-WV).
