Weekly Legislative Update: October 23, 2023

Congressional Schedule: October 23-27, 2023 

Floor action: The House and Senate are in session. 

This week, the House may vote to elect a new Speaker. 

Hearings: 

Employment- On Wednesday, the Senate Finance Committee will hold a hearing to examine paid leave, focusing on policy, practice, and impact on the workforce. 

Also on Wednesday, the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Water, Wildlife and Fisheries will hold a hearing to consider a number of bills, including H.R. 2990, the “National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Sexual Harassment and Assault Prevention Improvements Act of 2023.”
