Women’s History Museum Bill Passes Committee

On April 14, the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee approved, by voice vote, S. 680, the National Women’s History Museum Act.

Sponsored by Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), the legislation would convey a parcel of federal land at fair market value to the National Women’s History Museum, Inc., a nonprofit organization that “researches, collects, and exhibits the contributions of women to the social, cultural, economic, and political life of our nation in a context of world history.”

During consideration of the bill, the committee adopted, by unanimous consent, an amendment by Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA) to address provisions relating to environmental issues, funding restrictions, and incidental costs.
