Senate Committee Passes Legislative Branch Bill

On June 19, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved, by voice vote, the FY2015 Legislative Branch spending bill (as-yet-unnumbered). The House approved its version of the bill (H.R. 4487) on May 1 (see The Source, 5/2/14).

According to the committee summary, the bill would allocate $4.3 billion in FY2015 to fund the Senate, Library of Congress, and the Capitol Police, among other agencies. This amount is $42 million over FY2014 and $165 million below President Obama’s budget request.

The House bill contains a provision to allocate funds for sexual harassment training in all House offices.

Additional details will become available once the committee releases its report.
